Around 9 in the morning, Samatha met me at a nearby park and took me on her usual trail through the forested area. She met me there solo, due to her young son coming down with a fever. She was eager to get down one trail in particular to get to the waterfall. Thirty-three weeks pregnant, she encouraged me to climb down a few sturdy rocks with her to get closer to the falls. Agile and full of energy, she climbed down and I followed. Settling in to our own private space, she stated, “I grew up creekin’. The sounds, the smell. It’s so comforting and I feel like it’s where I belong”. Samantha enjoys going on hiking trails with her husband and son and is elated to continue exploring nature with her soon-to-arrive bundle of joy!
